Re: Fury Props for Fish & Ski (Herb)

Welcome to the BBC, Herb!!!! I am assuming you have the 21SX? This hull is the same as the hull on the 206 Elite of that year, so someone may have some ideas...

Also, Vafishing has that same boat, although I forget which motor he has. He may be able to help you. You might find him in the Virginia Bass Club forum...or look him up in the member list (click on the list in the above right section of any page) and send him an email or IM.

Thank you for the quick responce. Yes I do have a 21sx, sorry I left that out. Recovering from shoulder surgery and my typing shows it.

    Thanks again.

What prop are you running now? And what are your performance numbers, prop to pad measurement, etc...

All this info might help with your set-up/prop decision...

Current prop is a Tempest 3 blade 23. Tacks out at 5200 and 52MPH full fuel and one sole on board. I don't have a prop to pad measurment. The jackplate was set up by the shop the did the prop install.

Those numbers don't add up with a 23P I would guess the motor is sick or you are not getting full throttle, that 225 should be spinning the bejesus out of that prop, but what do I know.

Definitely check the prop to pad measurement and let us know.

Pat or someone with a similar boat will be along with the set up.

Re: Fury Props for Fish & Ski (WaYoop)

With the 23 pitch you should be pushing the limiter unless that motor is buried down deep. On mine I am running a 225 VMAX HPDI with 25 Pitch (24 in the summer) Yamaha T1. I run it at 4 1/4 below pad and see low 60s (GPS) with a partner and tourney load and full tank. RPMS around 5600. If I run half tank fuel, alone, still with a tourney load she will get closer to 65-67 mph and pick up a little on the RPMS.

Re: Fury Props for Fish & Ski (vafishing)

I just had shoulder replacement surgery and I can't do much for a while. I'll have a friend of mine do the measuring. For the record, the pad measurment is from where to where exactly. Are we talking about the set up on the jackplate or something else?

    Please advise.

    Thanks for your help.

    Prop-to-pad:

The pad is the lowest part of the rear of your hull...just forward of your drain holes.

The measurement is the difference between the bottom of the pad and the center of your motor nosecone...when both the boat and the motor are level. Easiest way to measure is from bottom of pad to ground...and then from the center of the nosecone (propshaft) to ground. The difference is your prop-to-pad measurement. Everything must be level to get the proper measurement!

As a general rule with our Champs, start with the nosecone (aka propshaft) at 3.5" below pad and move in very small (1/4") increments until you find the spot where you get best performance.

Re: Fury Props for Fish & Ski (Lea)

Lea, Thank You for the explanation. Unfortunately my boat has not been on a trailer for weel over a year. She is berthed on the California Delta and is docked on a Hydro Hoist in a covered berth in Discovery Bay.

Looks like I need to get some help from my friends and go get my trailer out of storage and pull the boat out to do the measurements.

It may take some time, but i'll get back with you as soon as I can get it down. I'm very interested to see where she sits now.

    Thanks Again.

Something is amiss, that 23 should turn that wheel better. How is your hole shot.

Not very good. That's one of the major reasons i'm looking at the Fury prop.

Re: Fury Props for Fish & Ski (Lea)

Lea: I'm having the boat pulled out so I can reset the ride height. Can you or someone tell what the measurement should be from the pad to the center of the prop shaft with a 25 Trophy as well as the 23 tempest?

I plan on reseting the tempest that's on there to the right height and water testing it, then changing the prop to the 25 Trophy and water testing to see which one runs the best.

The local prop shop tells me that it should be set at 4 1/4 to 4 1/2

    Sound right to you folks?

I appreciate any help you can offer.

    Thank You

Re: Fury Props for Fish & Ski (Herb)

I have the '05 21sx with a 23p tempest plus, set up from c & o marine. Right now it gets 65 consistently, but I am looking for a 25t1 like vafishing. The motor just spins the 23 too close to the limiter. Talked with a couple of guys who have worked with this boat and the extra weight makes the prop need to be a little further down from the pad. I've heard 4 to 4 1/2" below pad.

Mike Thanks for the info. Any idea what the measurement should be for the 25 Trophy?

You should be getting alot more from your setup, I am running a 89 champion 201 fs with a 150xp, 23 pitch 4 blade predator, 3 1/2 above pad. And getting 59 loaded gps with two people running 5700 rpm.

No idea on the Trophy. I'm still trying to save for the 25T1 let alone another prop. Not too many of these props around. But, their great boats and you can't beat the ride. Good luck with the set-up.

Get back with members vafishing and Mikep79 on the prop to pad for that boat. Most Champs want prop-to-pad to be 3.5"

Re: Fury Props for Fish & Ski (Lea)

Just make sure and watch the water pressure. My 21SX didn't come with a water pressure gauge. I put one on through the interface with my Lowrance unit. But when you start cranking on the jackplate make sure you have a gauge and keep proper water pressure for your mercury.
