    Livewell screen on a '04 198 Champion

    Cross posted.

Drain screen has all but fallen apart. Before diggin in, does anyone know what size it is? screw in or push in? There are two sizes on C&O marine's site.

Re: Livewell screen on a '04 198 Champion (skeeter bite)

Can someone help here? If he is referring to the screen inside the bottom of the well, I have no idea how it fastens in. I tried to get mine out to clean it and no luck.

I tried to replace mine last fall. Posted on here and also emailed C&O.

    Got this page from them:
    http://www.candomarineparts.com/Thruhull.html

    So since I wasn't sure, I said:

"It is either PN AS-2 or PN AS-1. I will take one of each."

Didn't hear back for a bit, so I followed up and received:

"I did get it and I have been looking for the AS1. I have a bunch of the AS2s
but I haven't been able to locate the AS1. I have Sherry looking for some at
the other store. I will try to get some in here as quickly as possible.
    Sorry for the delay"

That was on Thursday September 24, 2009. I haven't heard back yet which probably means they don't have it yet. I've bought lots of stuff from C&O and it's always been a great experience. Even picked up my boat at C&O II even though it wasn't bought from them - just met a customer of theirs there, bought some tackle from them and the people there were first class all the way.

I think it's just a hard part to source.

I'm sure when they have it I will hear back. I'm going to grab a couple of each just in case.

If I do, I will remember to come back here and update that they have them in stock.

Contact them again...they stay very busy. Carol will get you set...

If C&O does not have it..contact another Champion dealer. Someone should know exact model and soource.

Appreciate the efforts guys. You are correct, it is either the black or grey base model (AS1 or AS2).

Thanks Lea, if I don't hear from them by April (when my boat comes out of hibernation) will contact them again. I did email 2 other board sponsor Champion dealers and never heard back at all but I totally understand - it is a small part and probably not profitable for them to chase down for me.

    Drain screen update --

After 20 min of trying to gracefully remove the old well bottom drain screen I resorted to using tools. Sucka wouldnt come out of the hole (insert joke here). Top screen part broke and I was left with the threaded section stuck in the pipe. Too much silicone kept it from moving. Well come to find out after using a drill to thin down the remaining part left in the hole, it is NOT threaded. It is a push in type screen made by FlowRite, not T&M.

    C&O PN 7A465
    Push in Aerator Screen
    Price $8.50

    Flow-Rite part.
    3/4" Snap-in Strainer
    MA-008
    $6.25
