    battle of the big blocks

Somebody on BBC had said there was a write up on the 395 w/225s .The weight is only 5 lbs difference between the three ,that is very impressive. So here it is .Check out the price back then.

I ordered my 395/yamaha 225 Vmax purely off that article in July of 1998--it was a NEW ''99 model ordered it from Rockhill marine in Warsaw,Mo and paid 29,333---LOADED! That was back when the owner's tourney was held at Truman.

Re: battle of the big blocks (E73bass)

I was just down at Truman last weekend. I bought my bought in September and fished the owners tourney there in October. That lake will make your a$$ pucker when you are running! Especially with a brand new boat! I still would like to see the Charger tourney held there again some day.

Here's a good test on how motor plays a big part in holeshot .same boat 3 different motors and one was a turd coming out of the hole even with a smaller prop.Yamaha has always been a beast on hole shot and top end.

The only problem I see is this article is 17 years old. None of these motors are even remotly recognizable to todays engine.

Nice bit of history, but not much help on choosing a motor for today use.

Nothing to do with today's motors just to help guys out with setups on these rigs .Tons of older boats out there with setup issues that were a lot to do with the motors of those years.
Had a old boat mechanic tell me once if you want to pull skiers buy a OMC if you want to go fast buy a Mercury .

I remember when that article came out. Back then I had a Stratos with an Evinrude 150.
