    Top Speed Gestimate

Any thoughts on a top speed of a charger 186 with a 150 optimax turning a 23p tempest plus? Insurance agent asked me and I couldn't give her an answer so I said around 45MPH.

It screams. Took it out yesterday. My new HDS 8 was a dud so no GPS speeds but the wind in my face feeling was similar to 60 plus on my motorcycle. The speedo was well above 60 and there was still more left. It handles great too.

53 .5 on the GPS. Do you have a jack plate on your boat and if so where is the prop center line set from the pad?

How many rpms?I would say a worked 24 would be a better prop.

That 22 Tempest is suppose to be a good prop as well.

Was watching for floating debris out on the river and didn't look at the tach. I will next time out.

Tempests are a crap shoot out of the box. Some are ok, but most really benefit from a visit to a good prop shop. I've personally seen Croxton get an additional 3-5mph out of one numerous times while also improving holshot.

The hot foot wasn't installed properly so the motor wasn't reaching WOT. Fixed that and it ran 56 MPH with the RPM at 5500. Full tank of gas, me at 280 lbs and my fishing gear. The hole shot is great almost instant.
