I am thinking of buying new units for my boat. I have always ran lowrance units and have had the down and side imaging for the last few years. The garmin 94sv looks like you don't need to have any other box for down and side is that correct. Also can I link 2 inis together using the same transducer and share waypoints. Thanks
Yes, the echoMap 7x and 9x sv units come with an all-in-one transducer (2D sonar, side vu, down vu), nothing else required. Regarding networking, they are only NMEA 0183 compatible and share wpts with this connection. Transducers do not share.

If you are getting ready to purchase make sure you look at both the 93sv and 94sv. Practically identical units but they come with different maps and different transducers.
The 70s requires the box for dv and sv. The 70dv does not require the box for down vu.

@ring_fry - thanks. Still looking for a 70dv/70s for a reasonable price. Haven't found any in stock and those who will take back orders are charging up to 2x retail for them. That's just nutz. ;P
Just ordered my new unit. I went with the 94sv so I get the coastal mapping. Hope this unit is better than my lowrance Hds touch units.
