installing lowrance side imaging on a 198

I'm looking for a way to run the transducer to the jack plate? One option is to drill a new 7/8" hole, is there another way? Any pics?

Thank you for the pics. How did you run the transducer cable thru the transom? Did you have to drill a new hole in the back of the boat, on the top cap? This is on an 2005 198, there's no splash well just the motor controls and fuel line in the plastic hose running up to the motor, I'm looking for the best option. If i drill a 7/8" hole I'll need to cover it with something?

I already had a hole drilled. It was for the temp sensor on the console flasher. I pulled it out and tied it up in the bilge and routed my ducer cable through that hole. I've thought about putting that temp sensor for the flasher in the livewell but for now it's just a thought.

Are you installing the high speed kit also? It's an additional thru hull ducer for the bilge along with a switch to switch over for high speed 2D sonar.

I installed HDS 8 about three months ago with a new transducer in the blidge, is that what your talking about?

Well the side image feature won't work at high speed and the 2d sonar may not either because of the turbulence. I had to put an additional ducer in the bilge so I could read depth at planing speed.

Here is how I did my 1197 bird on my 21sx, but if you have a jackplate it may work. It is mounted in a hole that is already at the bottom of the jackplate. This way I didn't have to put any holes in the hull. Like getfished said, I already had a hole in the topcap with a small plastic clamshell. So ran the new cable through that and filled it up with the marine grade silicone or whatever its called. Ran the wire down the inside of the jackplate and zip tied it to one of the jackplate bolts on the inside and it hasn't given me any problems.

the Lowrance SS is alot smaller then the HB and have read some have mounted in to the step up under the transom, those pictures looks like a HB mount and a Lowrance mount is totally different
