Amsoil HPI in my 225 EFI... Smokes less, but still smokes. But I like the thought of less carbon build up. I also run Seafoam in every tank. The previous owner ran Merc Oil but no fuel treatment, and when I first started running Seafoam, I smoked like you wouldn't believe. I thought I toasted my motor, but it was just cleaning all that gunk out.
I run Amsoil Synthetic in all my 2 cycles along with sometype of fuel treatment!

If it aint broke, don't fix it. I always ran mercury premium plus in my efi and it ran perfect. Why change a good thing?
I'm using Bombardier XD50 in my 200 EFI, it's a synthetic blend. Still smokes some ... like Bowhunter, I also run an additive in my fuel. I give it a pretty heavy Sea Foam treatment a couple of times a year, but use Carbon Guard or Quickleen the rest of the time
I use nothing but synthetic in my 93 Merc 200 EFI and I still have great even compression and the motor has never been rebuilt.I live on a lake and fish 300+ days a year.I use nothing but synthetic oil in all my vehicles.
Theres nothing more gratifying than firing up my 96 200 efi at the launch ramp and smoking out the dock, seeing the disdainful look of the barneys and there babes getting ready for the last 20 minites, taking up dock space, sucking up my 2 stoke smoke....ahhhhstill running mercury premium plus after 13 years.
I run Pennzoil 100% Synthetic, along with Marine Stabil and Ring Free in every tank in a 10 to 1 mix.

From what I have heard from Jay Smith in the 2.5 performance board I would stick to a synthetic blend in all steel sleeved motors like yours unless they have a ton of hours and the outward ring pressure has subsided a little bit. He says he has seen some scuffed cylinder walls from full synthetic when the rings or still fresh! just what I have heard. I run Penn blend in my promax and it is great. Very little smoke considering the motor! good luck![]()
My litle efi 150 smokes like hell, but I really love that smell.I run the synthetic blend pennzoil.
