need compartment covers for champion dual console 17'6"

I recently purchased a nice older (1989) champion. it had a deck built over the compartments and the front live well. they disposed of the covers and i wish to replace the rotting deck with the original covers and just build a center deck to accomplish the same thing. i have looked on line everywhere to find them with no luck. i also have no idea where the live well water control lever is to shut off the live wells when i have fish in them so the water doesnt drain out when i am moving. surely there is something to do that on this quality of boat. i am sure there is a better method than a cork in the fill tube. thanks for any help

My Uncle (Mark Wallander) owns Industrial Mecanical Specialties in Midway Arkansas 870-481-6275. He fabricated the metal lids for Champion prior to them leaving and the other mulitiple boat companys in the area namely Basscat, Viper (now gone), Hawk (gone). While your rig may pre-date when he started with Champ I'm sure if you gave him the measurements he could build you what ever you want. He did this for me with one of my older rigs and the lids were great, heavy duty but lighter than fiberglass or wood. He knows his stuff when it comes to building boat lids. Give em a call and see what they can do for you. The worst he can say is no. Hope this helps.

Matt, did he also build the deck insert of the early 90s Champs? I know there is an interest in those. Also the Cobra guys have been looking for a source of them. If he still has the dimensions and patterns used to make them, I'm sure he can could sell several.

Down on the right panel below the throttle, there should be two push/pull controls in behind the panel, between there and the outer hull. One for the front and one for the rear livewell. Hope I described that well ...

R&R maybe able to assist? They make aluminum panels or lids.

    TxChamp,

I really dont know. I know he can fabricate just about anything with metal. Give em a shout. If he didn't make them that far back just give him the measurments you need and he can build it.

Right on the mark Tx Champ..... My "87" 176 has that exact set-up..... The top cable controls the front livewell..... Bottom cable controls rear livewell..... Below the throttle between inner and outer hull... Push to close, Pull to drain......
