Garmine Marine Network cable removal - stupid question #1

I have a black box networked to a couple of Echomap 70s units. I need to reroute some wires. I went to remove the network cable from the back of the 70s, and realize I can't figure how to get it to release. It's the Garmin official cable and I know it has the standard "telephone wire" style clip that needs to be pushed in in order to release the connection. However, the end of the cable is surrounded by hard plastic (quasi-waterproofing system) and I can't access that little clip to push it in to release the cable. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.....

Mine have a threaded nut, similar to the ducer and power cable connections.

Yep, it's a treaded plastic nut you need to loosen first and then the clip will undo the connection.

As Shellback commented, the Garmin Ethernet cables have a screw on connector. There isn't a catch pin on the end of the RJ45 connector. It is held in place by the screw on cap.

it does catch sometimes especially if the screw connector is not clipped correctly on either side. I've done this and kept fooling with it and finally got it loose. Not sure if the retainer for the plastic capture clip thingy popped up or what - but it dang sure would not come loose.

Thanks everybody. The rigger didn't attach the screw clip/cap, so that was confusing to me. It took a bit of brute force, but I got it out.

I think I'd find a new rigger if he didn't install the screw caps.

Dealership/new boat. What can you say. So far that's my only complaint.
