    livewell question

Does anyone know what dia. hose champion used on the intake hose that goes threw the control valve on my 86 18 super V? looks like garden hose to me. I am going to remove the valves and put a plug in the bottom of the wells. one will not move and the other one leaks water into the hull.

It' not garden hose although I've seen some pix of what looked like garden hose. You can use 3/4" heater hose from your local auto parts store. Be careful not to kink the hose when you make turns.

OK, I just re-read your post. The intake does not run through a valve. The intake from the lake should have a screen across the fitting on the pad. There is a pump at that location taking lake water and pumping it into the livewells. There is a drain in the bottom of the livewells that go through a valve and out a fitting through the pad. There is a open fitting near the top of the livewells that is the overflow that goes out through another fitting in the pad. If you have the front and rear livewells, there is a checkvalve in that line to stop backflow. That is also the configuration where you would have two drain valves.

What you do is your choice, but it is handy to have all systems in the boat working properly.

    Typical livewell set-up

    Re: livewell question (Tx Champ)

The previous owner never used one of them and it will not move at all. The other leaks so I think it would be best to remove the control valves from the drain. Replacing the valves would be easy but I dont know about replacing those cables and right now I already have too much in it on the rebuild so, I am going to do the cheap repair for now. thanks for the info.
