'86 Champion: Lip and Hatch Seals

Would anyone know a vendor who sells the trim and hatch seals for this boat. I think I have found the style I need at McMaster-Carr Comp. but just wondering if there was anyone else who has replaced them and who they purchased them from.

    Thanks, Cooper

Take a look at these guys. Seems like I've seen more somewhere else. I'll do some looking around

Found some at Cabelas, but still not what I'm looking for ... http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0023127016311a.shtml

    TxChamp,
Trim Loc is the company that I found but you can't buy from them directly but they did refer me to McMaster-Carr. The part# for the hatch trim seal I was looking at is 1120A221, and the Part # for the edge trim I was looking at is 24175K14. I am pretty sure I located the right size, but I was hoping someone would tell me that Champion used this company for the seals and here are the part #s I need.

If you go to http://www.mcmaster.com and enter the part#s above it will take you to the page to view.

I just want to make sure that I get the right size, like they say when in doubt ask.

    Thanks

    TxChamp,
the hatch seal is the wrong style at Cabelas, but the trim seal looks like the right one. I see also they only sell in 25ft lenghts.

    Here's another http://www.beckson.com/trim.html

Might also check on the resoration forum and see if anyone else has been down this path ...

    Good Luck!

Good links guys. I have some bad ones too and have been too lazy to try and find them.

I bet they did. I asked Kathy Bigggs (Cleveland on the Cobra forum) and she said it was Trim Loc that they used. Would stand to reason that Champ may have used the same.

Looking at the figures for the part numbers you supplied, those are the ones I remember. You don't have an old piece you can measure?

I'll add their link to my reference material post.

    TXChamp,
I measured but the ones I have are so old and the groove for the edge is streched out so I was guessing in the 1/8 edge gap dimension. with the fiberglass edge it is in waves (bigger, smaller) but it seems to be an average of 1/8. as far as the hatch seal is concerned on my boat it is compessed and I took my fingers and tried to make it round again and measured it and it close enough to where I should have the right part # to replace it. My biggest concern was the edge gap. I think I will stay with the 1/8 and I am sure with my trusty mallet I can tap, tap, tap away until it bottoms out for a tight fit. but if the 1/8 edge gap on the seal is too small it might make it spread farther open as you tap it down. I guess I will go with my gut feeling and order the part #s listed above.

    Thanks for your help, Cooper
