'04 e-tec software update?

I bought one of the first (in my area, any way) 50 hp e-tecs three years ago. It's been a very good motor but I have had a few "burps" and I believe they were mostly related to the computer. (warnings for no reason, cold weather idle only speed, misc beeping, etc.).

Just wondering if I could get new software installed. At one point, I was told they couldn't do it on the '04s. Any ideas?

Every other E-tec can be upgraded as far as I know so yours should not be any different. One of the experts will verify it for you later.

Software updates have always been available for your engine. The current software for a 2004 50hp E-TEC is version # is 3030332 with a revision # 87928.

A competent tech can install it in 15 minutes or less...

John, Thanks very much. I'll print this message and take it to my dealer. They are a very good shop and will most likely be able to do the update.

Any idea if this is a warranty item? I still have a couple of months left on the 3 year warranty.
