sorry but yet another lightning question

This was from a post in the set up forum...

The lightning case is not a good design from the outset......it also does not offer low water pickup ability...one thing you were looking for.
The longer foot print will cause added drag and you don't have the horsepower to over come that drag nor do you need a gearcase rated for 80+ mph..what the Lightning was created to do.

Is this true? Please clear this up for me?
The 150 H.O.'s come with a lightning and they will never see 80 + MPH.
If the lightning was not a good design why would they put them on all H.O.'s?

I am not trying to prove anyone wrong, just worried I did not make the best choice. I love the gearcase and seems great to me. Thanks for your imput and point of views.

Dont be sorry for any post thats what these guys are here for. I for one think the case you have is just fine. Who the he!! said that any way. Prob a merc man

Just run it like you stole it, Todd is right, you won't see 80+ on your motor but you should see the mid to upper 60's. That is a good Gear Case. CM

I would not try to hit 80 in my boat w/ a 175 HP. Waste of time. Thanks guys.
