I took my new used Champ out for the second time and I turned on the livewell and I hear it pump but sound like its just pumping air.The pump is very hard to get to so I was looking for ideas from peoples past experience to help me fix this.I didn't see any restrictions on the intake?What do you thinks guys,a loose hose?Also there was no water come out when I opened the drain plug so its not pumping into the boat
Got a feeling you are going to have to get to the pump to see what is going on...
Run a hose on the pump inlet on the back of the boat. This will show you two things. First, it will show any restrictions in the lines (if water will not go in the line) and second if it does go in the inlet and not come out in your live well it is a broken or disconnected line. Sometimes back washing will show an obstruction in the line. I would put the hose on both ends if I could get to it and make sure water will flow freely through. Other then that it might be the pump will run but, the pickup on the pump is not working properly.
