    Prop/Set-Up Question

There have been several topics over the past months about set-up questions on the 200 Elites. I have an 08 200 Elite with a 225 ProXS with a 26 Tempest Plus.
    Water Pressure: 22psi
    Rpm: 5725
Speed: 69 (me only, livewells full, and 3/4 fuel)
Motor is at 4 1/4 below the pad. Have a wedge and trim extenders to give more positive trim.
Can not raise the motor any higher. When I did, I actually lost speed and did not gain any rpms.
I am pleased with the boat's performance but would like to get the rpm's to 5900 and improve lift. When running, the splash is just off my right shoulder. Not really looking for any more speed.
    Here are my questions:
1.) Should I try a 25 Tempest Plus to get the rpms up?
2.) Should I try a 26 Tempest Plus with cup added to help lift, which may increase rpms?
3.) Should I try a Trophy or Fury or a non Mercury prop?
I really do not want to work my current prop. Would rather by a used one to work or that has already been worked.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You might try a Fury prop. If you want to try a worked prop its best to find one that has not been worked so that it can be worked specifically to your boat. Your not running to bad though.

I've never setup that hull, but...

Wedges *and* trim extenders? There comes a point of diminishing returns, when you have too much prop angle in relation to the bottom of the hull.

The clue to this statement is you've got your motor buried, and still losing prop contact. I'd like to start with that combo with a typical new champ setup, 26 Tempest with JUST extenders or wedge, not both, set at 3 1/2" below pad, and have some idea what that produces, it just looks like something isn't in line correct with what you've got going on.

    Pat,
Dealer installed the wedge after break-in was complete. It made a big difference in performance. I gained 200 rpms and 4-5 mph. I added the trim a few trips after that and it really did not add any to performance. Since removing the extenders is much easier than removing the wedge, I'll try that set-up again with the motor at 3 1/2 below the pad.
Any reason why raising the motor would lose speed and not change rpms? The only thing raising the motor did was throw a really tall rooster tail.

It's going to take some tweaking, but Pat Goff knows boat set-up...and he especially knows Champions. Listen to him....He'll get you there!

It's easy to demonstrate, difficult to describe, but...

You want your prop shaft as level with the water as possible, when you over trim to the point you're at, you're directing the energy down, not out.

I'd yank the extenders, set your motor height up an inch, and see where you're at, it'll be close to optimum.
