U know thats right Luke!
The pic of my boat was taken last summer.
champer nice boat and your right the Vee makes all the difference, i see a few white caps out there!! by the way i see a bottom bouncer you have on your trolling motor which is different..Can you tell me or show me a better pic of that, I was looking to put something like that on my boat that would allow it to rest on carpet not gunnel..
Thats not a bounce buster thats the handle for the tension on the gator mount.![]()
Put a bounce buster on mine, but the angle of my Gator Mount does not allow aligning it on the carpet...

i have a minn kota and it is aligned the same way, so i cant have it rest on the carpeted area, it would have to rest and press down on gunnel like yours. I am wondering over time if it will cause stress cracks around this area..Is your developing this yet, how long has yours been like that?

Had it on there about a year now... no problems so farBasically there is no, none, zero, nada bounce if you cut the length of the bounce buster rod correctly... Basically it freezes the mount in place so it rides along with the boat, not bouncing up and down with each movement... Of course the Gator Mount mounting screws, lock spring etc. have to be tight at all times as well...
I'll be the 1st to admit I was afraid of top cap damage, but it looks good so far![]()
thanks that good to know, i wasnt sure if the constant pressure from bounce buster would cause cracks on the gunnel, i got my buster, so i will make a winter project
It can take a bunch of trial and error to get it perfect. Too loose will defeat the purpose, too tight and it will be a bear to release the mount. (especially when trying to get it right) I had one on my spine buster 361 and the motor didn't move a hair. No cracks, or damage!
Hey Gunnar, when did you ever find Geneva that calm in the middle of the day??

Well I know lots of folks are saying that pic don't look so bad, but do you see a lot of other boats running it? Can't remember for sure, but I think we had NW winds of 25+ MPH that day...
Note there is no bounce buster in the PIC... Mounted it the next weekend...
Anyway, I really just like the pic with the ChamP logo going forth to do battle against the wind![]()
Bounce busters. The ones that come with the trollers are garbage in really rough water. Everyone up here that fishes Erie or Ontario on a semi-regular basis use RAM mounts as a bounce buster, some also use multiple straps.
My boat's in storage but I'll see if I can get a buddy to take a pic of his troller set up. It's more work obviously to undo the RAM once you get to your fishing spot, but the difference in rough water is unbelievable. You drill into your deck, not the gunwale, so no fibreglass is harmed.
You can practically lift the boat off the trailer by the troller once it is RAM-ed and strapped on to the deck.

I think it's a great picture. I have one of my 187 and one of my 198 taken from that angle. Really looks neat, tho mine were taken in calmer water...![]()
