I've been reading where some 07' 183CX's had a HP rating of 175. Mine has a 150 HP rating. What gives? It doesn't sound like much, but I'd LOVE to hang a Yami 175 HPDI on the back of my rig.![]()

yeah it should say on your boat aswell but it is 175 and the 188 you can put a 200 on the back
My plate says 150 HP rating. I've read somewhere here on the boards that some 07 183CX's were rated for 175 HP and some for 150 HP...Grrrrr![]()

Only a very few of the very first 183cxs were 175 rated. The 183 Elites still are. It is marketing. If the CXs were 175 rated, perhaps not as many folks would buy an Elite.
There have been many discussions about this in the past. Some folks understand and agree...others do not...
Don't be angry. You have a fine rig!!!![]()
Thanks Lea, she is sweeeet! By the way, anyone have a new 150 HPDI Yami on their boat? I'm thinkin about switchin to the HPDI from my 07' carbed 150 VMAX. I'd like to know what people have to say about the new HPDI 150....![]()

You WILL NOT get any more top end out of it with an HPDI.
I have an 07 183CX with a Yamaha 150 VMax carb, and I'm getting 63 gps alone & around 61-62 gps with another aboard. I'm running a 23 Trophy Plus, and engine is set around 3-1/2" below pad.
The 150 carb VMAX is a STRONG 150 (2.6L) and it will push that boat as well as an 150 HPDI. Don't let anyone tell ya anything different!![]()
He may not get more speed, but he sure as heck will get better fuel mileage....
...but in no way am I criticizing your carb.....it sounds like a great performer...It's a matter of personal preference.
Is anyone else getting a msg that OhioChamp183's siggie has been deleted by Photobucket? I cannot see anything except that message..very odd...
Yes it will get better gas milage, but it depends on what ya saved buying when a 150 carb.
I saved a kazillion!!!!!![]()

I have told you a billion times not to exaggerate!
You can do a whole lot more with a carb motor that a motor controlled with a computer. You can make the computer motors work too but you have to know how to crack the codes and go in and reprogram the EMM/ECU. Them fellas over at Hydro Tec can make them hammers sing but it comes with a price. Same with Montie Racing, speed comes with a $$ and a decrease in reliability.
