    '98 203 Elite - Potential Transom issue

    Hi Folks:

Recently finding washers are digging into the inner transom area of my '98 Champ 203 elite. Do i have an issue that goes beyond simple installation of a washer plate? I can't find any obvious soft spots at the transom surface nor any cracks. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Pull everything off, jack plate, mounting bolts, etc. The champ transom is actually pretty cool in that you can take one that is soaked, and dry it out with a heat lamp and it's good as new.

So...if you find a crappy install (lack of sealant) just let it sit under a heat lamp for a week, it should dry out and be ready to be properly reinstalled.
