    Boat Trailer

I made it through the storm and only damage i had was my shed and my whole fence. I'm really bless and also think and praying for everyone that lost there homes in the Storm.

Also, my boat new champion made it through Hurricane IKE outside, I have one little problem, the strap rub on the trailer while it was blowing 90mph and it rub the paint off and now it is rusting. The trailer is blue and also what is the best cleaner and protector for the chrome on the trailer and the chrome wheels also has some rust .

    Thanks

Call the plant and tell them what happened and give them your color they can probably send you some touch up paint or give you the color code and you can go to a paint shop locally and get it. As far as the chrome goes probably a chrome cleaner and wax from a local auto parts store would be fine. Glad you made it through OK.

I wouldn't have either, but he probably had other more important priorities to worry about. I'd leave my boat out in a new york minute to save my family friends and even my best hunting buddy. My black lab. Thats what insurance is for

Brent...you should have aluminum wheels, not chrome. Also if your fenders are shiny silver, that would be stainless steel. There should be no chrome on the trailer as far as I know..

I had the boat covers and i wax it before i left. Also, i have no big tree in my neighborhood. Trust me i wish i had a garage for my new boat, but I'm getting a nice carport for the boat.

    Re: Boat Trailer (Lea)

Lea, you are probably right about the rims rims beening alum. but the nuts that hold the rim are not and they have rust on them. I sprayed some cleaner on them and it came off, somewhat.

Lea, you are probably right, then what would be a good cleaner and protector.

Its kind of funny that champion installs stainsteel plates, so customers wouldn't have a probably with rust but when they install them the screws that hold them are already rusting on my.

    Re: Boat Trailer (brentl)

that does sound a tad self-defeating, doesn't it. Guess it would not hurt if Champion sees this thread...

I use Stainless Steel wipes found em at walmart I think..or a special wadding polish on my fenders. Just soap and water on my rims so far...

I'll have to try to get the name of the wadding polish. It works on all unpainted metals. It is cotton impregnated with some sort of cleaning polish...
