I have a 23P Tempest for sale on the BBC page and someone that wants to buy it. He asked if it will fit a '95 150 Fastrike. Anyone know if an adapter is required or available?
Thanks.

He'll have to have the splines shortened and then it'll fit right on.
If it takes the flow torq hub. You just have to buy a hub kit to make it fit. I run a tempest on my Evinrude part of the time.

if your tempest has a removable hub yes he can he just has to knock that merc hub out and install a Johnson/merc hub...( hub made for johnsons/rudes).
I run a 25 tempest on my 1993 Johnson 200 venom, oh and the hub kit comes with the thrust washer and all so nothing else to buy.

Why not use the ole' country boy method and take a 1" hole saw to the Merc prop removing all but @ 1 1/2 " of internal splines, going in from the front of course. Then the Merc guys and the O.M.C. fellas have finally found a common ground to relate to. Give it a try and don't repeat this but, Merc props have always been my favorite!![]()

I had heard something of this but couldn't get my head around it!! The Merc and BRP splines are the same?? By what you are saying the Mercs have a fatter shaft? Thanks in advance!

Mazco, cut the splines out of the front of a Merc HP4 and sold me a thrust washer so I could run it on my Evinrude. My friend still was able to run it on his Promax while he was getting his prop repaired. (with a merc thrust washer of course)

Hey Bassmeister, no, the merc P.S. is not "fatter", the splines on the shaft itself are much longer than the O.M.C., therefore the internal splines in the merc prop are longer to compensate. This prevents the prop from sliding up far enough on the O.M.C. shaft, so by going in and removing enough of the splines till she slides up far enough is all that's needed, then your merc buddy is happy because you did'nt ruin his prop, and your happy, because you can still borrow it when needed.![]()
