    2003 187 with a 150 Yamaha

This boat has a 10" jackplate, what should this boat be expected to run speed wise, I know the comfort is there, but would like to know if i will be able to break 60mph. Thanks Joey.

    Re: 2003 187 with a 150 Yamaha (Joey's Bullet)

Hmm I noticed a friend of mine had such a boat listed online for sale.

I can tell you my old 187DCX was LOADED, I carried a HEAVY load, and I could run 64 most days with a 175 Yamaha. If you and I are looking at the same boat it's a single console, I doubt it has the same goozooodle of options and my guess is it's a 60 to 62 MPH boat with the carb 150 spinning at 5900 RPM's.

Different boats, the LA 187 appears to be a HPDI not a carb motor. That is about a 1500.00 upgrade from the carb motor. Form the pics that is a clean 187! The SC's w/o the step boxes should break 60 if set up correctly, and you don't do like I did and literally stuff every front cavity with tackle and stuff.

my 98 187 with a tired 94 150 xri merc ran 62.3 gps with just me 250lbs, full of fuel and livewell full. now with a 175++++++++ 2.5 merc runs 70.8with a stock 26tempest at6100 rpm. i have a new fury and a B&b prop worked by mark to try this weekend if they hold true to the hype i should get 3 or 4 more mph. I'll have to see it to believe it!

    Re: 2003 187 with a 150 Yamaha (DOUGMCGEE187)

I'd like to compare notes: My 05 187 with a 175 opti ran 60.5 gps this past weekend.... set up is:

24 p tempest plus, 28 gal of fuel, and a light tackle load. (380 lbs worth of 2 fishermen). My prop is 3.80" below pad, and I was running 5700 rpms and 12-13 lbs of H2O pressure.

I am not questioning validity of your numbers, just like to know where I can gain that much speed as my boat appears to be near maxed (based on H2O pressure and rpms).

Doug's boat is rear tank, which is a tad faster than under-seat ones. Also, I suspect all the + signs after his listed hp of 175, and rpms of 6100, mean the motor is not "stock".

    Re: 2003 187 with a 150 Yamaha (Lea)

my 05 is a rear tank model as well. What do you think Lea, is the 60.5 about right on my stock motor or should I be looking at some prop options?
