OMC Trolling Motor Repair in Minnesota

I posted this in the Electronics board but I thought I would try it here as well. I have a 99 OMC trolling motor that needs to get repaired. Looking for a place in Minnesota that would be able to repair it so I don't have to ship it across country.

    Thanks

Re: OMC Trolling Motor Repair in Minnesota (MNJAVELIN)

is it a real omc or is it a minkotta/omc? if a minnkotta/omc any minnkota repair will be able to fix it if not it may be best for you to hunt down a couple of used ones to keep on hand for parts as some places do have a few left( parts) but most dont. there is a place here in SC that used to carry a good supply of parts but that was a few years ago and i havent run a omc in that long.

Try Maxxum Rigging in Walker. I think he repairs any brand. 218-547-4877

    you can try:

fish lectronics - columbia heights, MN
    capras - blaine, MN

if not, i'm sure one of those can point you in the right direction.

Thanks for all the responses. I will give them all a call and see what they have to say. If they don't fix them then maybe they know of someone that does.

Well I decided to scrap the repair idea and I picked up a used Minn Kota. So if someone is looking for a 99 OMC Troller let me know.

Well it has this problem where every once in a while no matter what you have the speed setting set to it kicks into high gear. Usually it happens when it is turning. The weird thing is when I ran it out of the water it never did it and it only starts after it has been ran for 20 minutes or so in the water.

Aside from the above issue it is in great shape. It is a 1999 model, has the 24S stamped on the skeg. Model number is BFL4TPH, 42" Shaft, 24v, 56lb thrust.

I am not sure. I know they sell for about $250 on Ebay when they are supposedly working 100%. What do you think it is worth? Shoot me an offer.

I'm only interested in it for the parts, I have one now and would just use yours for parts if needed,so I'm not willing to too much for it.

Re: OMC Trolling Motor Repair in Minnesota (MNJAVELIN)

My '99 OMC trolling motor does the same thing. I priced the board and decided to purchase a new one instead. If I remember right the board was about 1/4 the cost of new TM.

One thing that I did that got me through the season last year was to pry on the board a little. I think the soldered points are going bad but messing with it a little fixed for a while. I have got my eye on a new Motorguide for the '07 season. I am also looking forward to 70 to 80 lbs of thrust!
