    Johnson 150 Faststrike

Looking at a used boat with this motor. Its a 1997. Does anyone know of potential problems with this year/motor that i should be concerned about?

My fastrike is a 1995 and it is a good reliable motor, I did have to replace a power head last year, but I think it was due to my lack of knowledge of this motor. I had the carbs re jetted with larger jets and so far no problems. I would not hesitate to buy the motor you are looking at as long as you have compression numbers {all within 10%} and you may also want to have a "leak down" test done on all six cyl. I think up to 6% is acceptable for your motor. I hope this helps.

I have 2 60* V6's now and have had others in the past. Great motors. Keep Champion plugs in them and you should be fine with normal care. Quick revving, great power.

    Good luck!
