    BRP/Dealer Notification of Updates to E-Tec Module

    I have a 2005 115 E-Tec. I had previously asked Seahorse to check and see that if for my S/N, if there were any updates. He advised that there was one that would help on startup. My question is this: Should BRP or my dealer be notifying me if there are any upgrades or do I have to rely on input from the experts on this board to let me know when I ask? Seems to me BRP ought to be letting me know. I do want to add that I have had no problems w/ my motor other then it might take a couple of more revolutions to start now that it has around 50 hours on it. Of course I could say that if it ain't broke don't fix it, ha! I cannot believe how little of the XD-100 it uses. Anyway, your comments would be appreciated.

    Correction, it is 2007 E-Tec.

    You may only be notified if it is required or important to do so. Alot of the changes are to improve on an already great product.

    Updated software is only to help out problems that show up in certain situations or boat-motor-prop combinations. They do not affect all motors. If there was something important enough, Bombardier contacts the registered owners and the dealers are also supposed to notify folks.

    If you are having starting problems, see your dealer who can check for updated software, check with BRP tech service if they can't find the problem, and keep a line of communication open with your dealer or tech just to be kept informed of any changes.

    We try to do our best around here, but normally if you don't have an issue with the motor, you don't need every update that comes along. If there is an important one that the techs think everyone needs, then you will here it here first.

    I started to get in detail but my fingers are lazy tonite. (Burr) its cold.

    You can also call evinrude and they will tell you what updates are available and what they are for..
