    Alumacraft Pro 185 performance

Wanted to get opinions/thoughts on if I should expect a little better performance or if my boat is doing good where it's at...Boat is a 2013 Alumacraft pro 185 with a 2013 90 hp Mercury 4 stroke. I have a 19P Stiletto SS prop. Motor is mounted on the second hole from the top and no jack plate. Took it out a couple of days ago with half fuel, tackle and 2 adults in the boat. With boat trimmed I got it to 45mph (GPS speed) at 5800-5900rpm (according to factory tach). As far as the rpm, I never hit the limiter alarm, so not sure how accurate the tachometer is. Thoughts?? What would be a few things to tweek if anything?

45 is mighty good for any 90. Wouldn't touch a thing.

Thanks GeauxTide....I thought it was pretty good too. Other than the prop, I haven't done a thing to this boat performance wise since I got it. Didn't know if I put a jack plate, different pitch prop etc if I would see any difference in speed. I guess my thoughts are feeling the same as yours...probably shouldn't touch a thing.

With the model of Merc 4S you have the numbers you have is impressive. I would keep it right where it's at.

I agree with the others. I cant remember off the top of my head but I think that model was rated for 6000 rpm and 45 moh is running great for a 90 4s. I would say you have a great efficient setup especially with that much load. May be a little quicker running alone to.

Nice looking boat. You are getting some really good numbers, as others have said I would not touch a thing. Looks like you have a great shop to keep it in!

Is it just me or does any and all Alumacraft boats just look like they're built like tanks? They seem to have a simplistic ruggedness about them.

This is the first tin boat I've owned and I am impressed so far. It seems very well built and tough. I was looking at new boats before I bought this one and it's funny how I really wasn't looking at Alumacraft as they really didn't impress me very much. I came across this one and got a great deal on it (I have about $9K in it with the new Elite 5 I just installed). I couldn't pass it up and glad I didn't. Seems to be a great boat.

My WOT numbers in cool air are 5600 rpm and 44.5 mph with a 1/2 tank fuel and by myself.
