Well us in the north are about to get our first blast of cold for the next 6 months while the guys down south are still fishing. What winter projects does everybody have in store on their boats?
The wife and I are in the process of closing on our first house so my boat will FINALLY be able to live indoors and somewhere I can work on it this winter without freezing. So after a season on the boat here are some of the things I'm going to be adding.
-Moving my 998 from the ledge by the throttle to a ram ball on the side of the console.
-Adding a 898 that will use the old ram ball the 998 was on, and network to the 998.
-Running a network cable and setting up a second power cord for the 898 at the front of the boat. Plan is to be able to be use it at more than one spot in the boat depending on whats going on that particular day.
-Putting in the minn kota quick release bracket so I can switch between my Terrova and Edge motors easily.
-Adding a 24v plug at the bow for the trolling motors.
-Installing a Humminbird HS gps puck where my normal puck is now. Moving the GPS puck I have to the front of the boat for use by the 898 when up there.
-Installing 5 rod holder bases. Putting 2 flush mounts up front in the deck and two somewhere in the back of the boat. Going to also mount one on the ledge next to the driver. When I was running bottom bouncers for walleye this summer it was a definite got to have so I'm going to remedy that this winter.
Originally I was going to mount up some spider rig rod holders on the front but thankfully I looked up the Illinois laws and unfortunately they are as backward as the rest of the state with only 3 rods per person allowed for trolling so nix that idea and go with 4 or 5 regular rod holders.
What are some of your winter projects on your tin for the winter?
