Really don't know without seeing the engine profile off the EMM. This is what would allow a tech to make a diagnostic.![]()
Sorry to hear William. What oil were you running XD-30, 50 100? Just curious. I am in my first 2 hrs and had it programmed for 100.

If his running Ram oil, it's XD-50.
Knowing that one side of the motor burned up, It can't be the oil, it's gotta be something wrong with the oiling system.

I have an 05 225 HO and when it runs it great, but I am on my third powerhead. The first lasted 25 hrs and number 2 piston broke factory said it was an oiling problem. "Second one lasted 65 hrs and this time it was number 6 piston that broke in pieces factory said it was a timing problem. Just finished breaking in this powerhead and I am hoping this is the one that will last. My dealer is giving me no confidence that it will.
Bombardier has been great replaced within a 10 days a fully dressed powerhead no problems. I am concerned what will happen when the warranty runs out.. just the powerhead is $8600.00 plus labor to replace..

Knock on wood, my 225HO has run XD100 from the very first start of the engine and has 65+hrs on it now...It sucks that you are having trouble with yours, but nice to see BRP standing behind it with no problems.

I do not believe the warranty starts over with the new power head. However, ask the folks at the hot line. When My 150 E-TEC blew the second power head, I asked for and had the warranty extended for the date of the third power head install.
BTW - did either of you hear the motor start making a clicking sound just before it blew.
Like a valve lifter tapping on a cold morning in an old Chevy V8. That's what mine did both times. Never did find out why mine blew. Got about 35 hours on PH #3 now and running fine.
From experience, BRP will take care of you.
Picked up my boat today. New powerhead installed. Was told I need to break-in now. Thanks ETech. Was concerned when it blew, being a former Mercury man but Etech replaced the head at no cost.
I don't recall my motor making any noise. It just started slowing down. When I shut it down it was hard to restart. Got it started, shut it back down.
Hopefully this will fix me up for the long run.
Thanks ETech.
