Control box and kill switch

I have this 1975 evinrude that runs fine. For tournaments, I need my control box to have a kill switch. I need help on finding a used control box, or shifter or throttle control, I'm not really sure on what it's called, that has a kill switch. I need a whole new one because it's wearing out a little. I also don't want it to be electric. The new ones are like 300 and I don't want to spend that much. I would be interested in buying one from you guys, or you could just help me find one. Thanks..

If the control box is not worn to bad you can buy an aftermarket kill switch for about 30 bucks.

I have a 79 Johnson 140HP. Can it be wired for a kill switch as well? Again, what will that cost for a kill switch and for someone to install it?

Pete,
If you have the old Selectric shifter you can't convert the control box to a manual shift without changing the LU. But you can wire in a Kill switch to the Harness.

Eric same with you you can wire one in with an aftermarket like Rusty sez, they come with instructions Just make sure you get the one for a OMC motor not a Merc.
