ETec Ignition Switch Keeps Coming Loose

My ignition switch keeps coming loose. I've tightened it several times and it always works back loose after a couple of trips. Any ideas on how to stop this from happening?

Seems like there should be a lock washer or maybe locktite on the shaft. Not sure about putting locktite on a plastic thread though.

A large reversed star washer on the inside of the panel the switch is mounted to will stop it from coming loose.

Lose the star washer and use a thread locking compound (Loctite 242 for this application). We conducted a case study and surprising found that the breakaway torque was less (worse) when a toothed or split lockwasher was used. The FAA doesn't like hardware laying on the flight deck, so we are no longer using these to fasten hardware. Now, we strictly implemented the use of Nyloc hardware, both the screw and nut, or a thread locking compounds.

You don't have to apply a lot of Locktite, either. All that's required is 1-2 drops.

THanks for the info. I took it into the dealer and they say they added a lock washer. If it comes loose again I will try the Loctite.
