what is a good starting point on pad to propshaft height with my motor and right now i have a 13 3/4 24p 4 blade michigan wheel ss prop. the prop looks ok but the PV holes have been drilled in it and they do not look like they are the same size and they are just kind of sloppy. I have not taken a measurement but it looks to be 2-3" below pad right now. when I got it out and ran it I could only get to 55mph gps running 5500 rpm's and I had the hotfoot floored and trimmed up pretty good. the motor runs smooth but I feel like it takes a little long to get on plane and when I put my boat on the trailer it will not go all the way up to the top roller before I start blowing out the prop. this is my first hi performance boat i had a 16' bass boat before running a 115hp.
my thoughts are is that my prop is slipping in the water and not getting enough "bite" because I have read enough and know that this boat should run faster than that. so any recommendations on props and setup would be much appreciated. thanks.
forgot to add I have a 12" slidemaster jackplate
