    What 05 if it's a 202 the perfect setup would be a 15 " RAPID JACK.

A 28 TXP might be a little stout for a 225 EFI, maybe? I'm only running a 27 TXP on my 250 OX66. Agree on the 15" setback though.

15in. jackplate, 26 TXP and set the motor at 1.5in. below the pad and come up till you find the sweet spot or go below 12lbs. of water pressure. You should end up around 3/4in. below the pad if you have a stock lower unit.

Man, I've got a stock lower on mine and I can't get anywhere near 3/4" below w/o losing too much water pressure...or maybe I can't measure right. If I remember right I'm running around 1-1/2 below.

Just remembered why I haven't tried this...looked on the Merc forum about plugging the holes and was not recommended on the std lower, due to no low water pickup. I specifically asked Don Weed about this and he said he wouldn't do it on the std lower. I pretty much take his word as gospel so I didn't do it to mine.

I would post this question on the Merc boards and see what them guys say.I have see several plugged off over the years, but for sure make sure you get as much info as possible first. This i do know if you cant jack up the motor, you wont get more speed.

Tom, also at certain motor heights you get bad water, or turbulence where the water is not flowing as well around the lower unit. You can sometimes go a little higher and you can get good water pressure. As long as you stay around 12 lbs, you should be good to go.

    Re: setup my blazer (Rebel1)

See if you can try a 26 Fury with a bit more setback ; up to 15 inches for the optimum for bow lift , but it will work very well with the plate you have; 26 Furys like to be a bit deeper on the plate than most props so water pressure should be good.... Set your propshaft height so that it will lift the bow , mine liked 2 inches below pad, but yours might like it higher, like most recommend...I found the 26 Fury to be almost perfect on my 202 with my 250 XS with 1:75 TM gearcase; in that it holeshot very well and carried a load very well and ran smooth without a hint of blowout on breakover or in rough seas... My 250 was a 2004 that has a rev limit of only 5850 and I ran out of prop on topend at 79-80 gps... I think your 225 on your 202 with this prop would be close to perfect....
