    The right prop?

I am running a 28TXP worked by Mark on my 202/250 HPDI that does fine in the cooler months but I need a summer/heavy load prop. I have decided on a 26 TXP OT4, is this the BEST choice?

Some others I have been concedering are, Bravo 1, Hydramotive Quad 4, Trophy, are there any others to look at?

I do not want to give up to much of my top speed (about 79 this time of year with the 28 TXP) but I do need better a holeshot. Is there going to be much difference in holeshot and speed with one of these props verses my 28TXP? I don't want to drop several hundred dollars on a prop and realize I am not any better off than I was with the 28TXP.

    Re: The right prop? (tnmark)

I had to laugh when I first bought the boat with a 225 it will hit 80 + the sales person said....74 TO 76 GPS.. Put a 250 on 79 gps tourney loaded, 82 gps light. I don't think she will run any faster no matter what prop you put on. I gave up...good luck. I have to make a change soon if I want to go 85 tourney loaded with a 250.

Each prop needs to be worked for your set-up to maximise it.....Honestly the only way to do that is buy what SHOULD work and hve the prop tweeked for you, borrow the props you think will work to get a base line or live with what you have.....If you dont have a good back up prop, i would tel you to start there....Start looking for that 28 bravo or 26????....Hydromotives are pricey but very nice...If you watch you can find the TXP your looking for used.....Also...Any top end you lose from a MINOR ptich change you may be able to get back by having the prop worked.....It makes a big difference!!!

A 26 TXP 4 blade will be faster out the hole, but slower on top due to less pitch. A 27 or 28 Bravo would give you pretty good hole shot but 2-3 mph slower on top. A worked 27 T-1 would be pretty good all the way around. You can't have you cake and eat it too.

I really like my 26 TXP 4 blade for a summer prop with a heavy load. For the price i think its a good one to have. The top end is not as fast as my T-1 but its close.

Mark, the 27 TXP 4 blade I ran on my 202/250 was 2mph slower but the hole shot was better. The 27 ran 80.1 compared to 82.5 with my 28 TXP 3 blade.

    Re: The right prop? (1outlaw)

Try a 26 Fury ; the holeshot is outstanding even fully loaded . I get 78 mph before hitting the rev limit of 5850 on my 202 with 2004 250 xs. I think your HPDI has a bit higher rev limit and that you should be able to get the 79 mph or better topend of your 28 TXP with a lot better holeshot with the 26 Fury.
