    I need some suggestions

I have a 2003 202 with 225vmax currently running 74-75 with a stock 27 4 blade TXP at 5800-5900 rpm 12" plate. Where can I get a 2" spacer kit? I'm trying to decide whether to get my prop worked or buy a 3 blade txp and have it worked. I used to have 27T prop that ran 77-78 and I would like to get back to that or more.
    Any suggestions?

The 3 blade TXP is faster than the 4 on my rig... you can get the spacers I believe from Bobs Machine.

What were your rpms with the T-1? The 3 Blade TXPs are faster, but it sounds like you have alot of slip with the 4 blade to be able to turn it 5800-5900. You can pick up spacers at most dealers, or they can order them for you.

It was a 27T not the T-1 and I was turning it 5900-6000. I had it B&B by Mark but didn't realy gain anything, maybe 1/2 mph. It is not throwing a rooster tail very high. I have to trim more with the 4 blade than I did with the old prop.
GE drove it last spring, maybe he will chime in.

The 27T props were generally 2-3 mph faster than the T1. If I remember correctly, you jackplate needed to come way up. I would also say that a 27 three blade worked is gonna be faster than the 4 blade in most cases.

I'm going to get the 2" spacer kit and mount the engine where it can be raised higher. My main problem is trying to decide whether to get my prop worked or spend an extra $400 and get a 3 blade and have it worked. How much difference will there be between the two props? How much will I gain from the spacer kit?

I got a T&H marine 2 inch spacer kit from E-Bay for $60.00 with the Buy It Now. It made a definate improvement in performance and feel. Be open minded with the engine height as I found with a lot of diligent testing that on most of my props the motor needed to be deeper than what is recommended on this forum to lift the bow and give best speeds. I found that in order to get speed you needed to be able to lift the bow and not be fully trimmed out with the bow up which required 2 1/2 inches below the pad with most props with two people on board. Solo the motor could be higher but still the deciding factor in engine height pointed at the ability to lift the bow enough . Try an Attwood Hydro Stabilizer foil as it makes the boat plane quicker , stays on plane at only 14 mph, and almost eliminates low speed porpoising as well as taming the rough water ride a lot. --- mike

Re: I need some suggestions (canadablazer)

Engine height depends on alot of factors. It also depends if you are trying to get the maximum speed out of your rig. I run mine even or above the pad loaded to the gills with 2 people. Mine set that low does not drive as good on topend and the speed suffers. The kind of prop you run on there could also make a big difference.

Re: I need some suggestions (GE Blazer)

I agree: engine height depends on the prop and its character a lot. I have not yet tried a TXP 3 blade and don,t doubt it likes to be higher and I will probably find that out when I try one . The props I have tried ; 26,27,28 trophys ,27 tempest, 28 powertech TRO4, 28 Hydromotive Quad4-X OB . The Hydromotive lifted the bow most of all but hit the limiter at 80.4 . The best overall so far was with 28 trophy(ya I know they are not popular). It does not blow out at breakover like the 27 and although I can still hit the limiter with it I can get 82 most passes but only 81.7 with the 27 which blows out a lot at breakover. The tempest hit the limiter at just under 80 as did the 26 A45 trophy. The Powertech did not lift the bow and I could not quite get 80 . I have a 28 Bravo 1 coming as well as a 29 txp OT4 . I was hoping to get 85 with one of them before ordering a TXP just to find out for myself. The way the Hydromotive performed out of the hole and how quickly it hit the limiter at 80.4 I feel that one of these in a 29 or 30 might be the ticket. I will post my results as they happen. --- mike
