Re: 1995 evinrude vindicator question? (dpage70)

do a search for the venom motor there is a jet that needs to be changed on one carb ( if it hasnt been already). Other than it being a carb motor and not an EFI it likes gas a bit more. But to be honest not much difference in them at all. carb motors dont get updates like a DI or a e-tech does. , Motors when checked out by a certified mech and given the ok run strong, my venom/gt ( first year of the venom line) pushes my overloaded stratos 201 with out a jack plate and full tanks on a cool day to the upper 60's. one of the guru's will be able to tell you what jet to change out or to have the mechanic look for. other than that they are pretty bullet proof.

Make sure the drain plugs have the tit on them so that the h.s jet doesn't try to back out.... other than that they are good motors but they do love the gas!!!!!!!

Venom/Vindicator the same thing just different paint and decals, Like the Witchdoc sez, check the carb drain plugs. You'll need to replace #2 carb HS jet with one two sizes up. If it is an .062 go to a .064.

    1 more question please???

i just spoke with the guy that has the boat with '95 200 vindicator on it. he told the motor was rebuilt in '01. his mechanic had a company in east tennessee named marfab (spelling) drill more cooling holes in the head. he said that it's something that this company patented because these motors were known for not having enough cooling in the head from the factory. i'm hoping that someone know's something about this and enlighten me a little more. thank you all again for any help.

I would still fatten the #2 hs jet 2 sizes, I lost a 225 Vindicator for that reason. JMHO

Marfab did some work on mine, the cooling mod does the #2 good, thus not having to raise the jet in that cylinder to cool it down....

If the drain plugs don't have the tits on them, I would replace them... Cheap insurance vs. a h.s jet backing out, leaning up the setup and burning a piston....

Re: 1 more question please??? (dpage70)

The looper world according to Garp,
OMC found that early closed deck blocks blowing #2 cyl due to overheat probs, Marfab found the fix and told OMC about it but OMC didn't implement it untill about 1998 MY.
So the recomendation is to fatten up #2 and install the "tit" drain plugs. Doing the jet conversion/drain plug has saved many a 200/225. But so does upgrading the T'stats and blowoff valve and keeping the H20 flowing.

In layman's terms just fatten up #2 Carb jet and make sure you have the "tit" drain plugs not the smooth end.

This was specific to the 200-225 engines.
