    transom saver

Anyone using the newer style transom saver from basspro shops? Its the one the one that does not connect the motor to the trailer. Just wondering about the added stress to the transom. Any comments??? http://www.basspro.com/servlet...rowse

middle of last year. Swapped powerheads and it blew, my luck. But it's rebuilt and running strong now. You get with Kevin yet. Hows the setup coming.

Your transom is under more stress when running on the water and in waves. This way you motor moves with your boat in sequence. With the older saver, the trailer pops the motor up and then back down when the trailer is rebounding back up. With the newer toter, you motor is rock solid and not bouncing around.

Chad, what kind of #s are you gettin now? Hit the century mark yet? I'm still running the same set up as I was the last time we spoke. I did talk to Kevin though. Super guy to talk with. I still plan on going to see him, just been busy lately.

I haven't really stretched her out fully yet. Once I finished breakin, I let her rip in a short straight away and took her up to 99mph with me, all my tackle, 7 rods, full fuel, and about 30lbs in port rear compartment. I noticed a crack in my skeg so I've been taking it easy until I found another case which I did but haven't put in on yet. With the new modded 200 case and 1/4" higher, I should have no problem breaking into the triple digit club with a 4-5 mph to spare. I have a couple props I'd like for you to try. One is a fishing prop and the other is a REAL GOOD topend prop. We may be planning a little get together in Boutte La Rose or Lafayette, I'll let you know.

Triple digits Chad? When are you going to trade that slow A-boat and get another Blazer?

    Re: transom saver (jlm202)

I contacted Triton and asked them which one they recommended to use on my new TR-186 with Mercury 175 Optimax.

They said the old style transom saver and the lock-n-stow were both good. The main thing they look for in a transom saver is that it takes the pressure off the trim/tilt rails and keeps the motor from bouncing on the transom.

They use both the old style transom saver which goes over the rear roller and also the lock-n-stow on their personal boats.

So, with that info straight from Triton, seems like it just personal preference which one to use.

I had the old style transom saver on my Procraft boat that I had for 18 years and I'm now using the lock-n-stow on my Triton. Personally, the lock-n-stow is much easier to use and also to store when not on the motor.

I see no real advantage to either except one for the my-wedge, it won't rub paint off of your LU...!!! I use the towel on it from day one, but it still mnages to rub off a little bit of pain here and there...

Ok guys. Explaing to me how the lock-n-stow keeps the motor from bouncing on the transom.

    Re: transom saver (nosaj2)

You trim the motor down on the lock-n-stow until it's tight. The motor doesn't move. With the old style transom saver that rode over the rear roller the motor could still move some sideways.

I can see the moving from side to side thing. My Hyd steering does not move much on it's own. But how does it releave stress on the transom?
