    Coldest hotel room ever?

Buddy and I stayed in a hotel on near Logan Martin a few years back (I think it was Logan), and it had the coldest air conditioning I have ever experienced. Got us to talking and thinking, how cold could it have been? We both swear it was below 50 degrees when we barely woke up, and it was a warm June night. That AC unit's performance was epic!

It was a tiny Motel and if I remember it, had a big bull or something on the roof. Anyone know the name of the place or are we confusing lakes?..

So, how cold can a room get and anyone know the hotel name? Thanks!

A brilliant (really) engineer friend of mine has a little trick to get the motel's AC to really crank out the cold air. Maybe one of those rocket scientists from Huntsville knows the same trick, because I'm sure he hasn't been to 'bama in many years. No, I don't remember what the trick was, but it's silly simple, like a bit of tinfoil and a wad of gum...something like that.

PS: I think he would probably remove the evidence of his 'fix'.

When we were younger (and not on blood thinners ) we would always crank them as cold as we could get it. We've had some you could've hung meat in. One was in Springfield Mo. I think the name had Route 66 in it. And another was at Mike's Motel in Golconda IL. The one in Mo. you could see your breath.

I swear The Cheeca Lodge room A/C on Islamorada will make freeze pops on a hot August day.

Fished a tournament on Livingston during hurricane Allison. Every day when we came in, room service had cranked the AC up. We came in and turned the heat on because we were soaked to the bone. Ruined a very good rainsuit and bilge ran continously. Never been so wet in my life. Only tournament they said we could call for a trailer.

We used to go to Lake Mattamuskeet on the coast of NC bass fishing about 4-5 times a year. My brother and I had a friend who wanted to go with us and had heard us talking about the beer drinking contest that we had there. He talked so much trash in the weeks leading up to the trip it was hilarious. When we got there on Friday evening, we fished until dark, ate supper and went to bed. We got up at 4:30, loaded up and went fishing all day. We fished all day,(This guy goes to work at 9 and is done at 4:30) get back to the room and start the festivities. We slide over to the restaurant and eat supper, the whole time pounding beers one after another. We get back to the room and shotgun about 3-4 beers in a row. Dude passes out on the bed. I turned the AC down as low as it will go. My brother and I are watching the world series , so a couple hours pass. I proceed to uncover the passe out dudes feet and lay back in the bed. It didn't take long for him to wake up and look around. Of course we were "asleep", this went on a few rounds before we went to bed. I swear you could have hung meat in the room. You could almost see you breath. It was priceless to see him pop up, look around, cover his feet and pass out again. He never challenged us again. Glad I don't drink like that anymore.

I think that place was called "the big bull" and I have experienced the same thing, the controls for the a/c were cold/fan/hot....no thermostat IIRC, and cold was really cold, but it the morning it only took an hour to thaw the water for a shower

Last time I went to Vegas, I stayed at the Aria. I went in the room first thing and turned the AC all the way down, then we all went down to the casino for several hours. When I got back to my room, even the door knob felt kind of chilly. I walked into a refrigerator. The window above the AC was covered in condensation, and the vents were wet. I have no doubt that if I had left it on for a few more hours, it would have frosted over. It was definitely an impressive showing. Some of the best sleep I have ever gotten. I love sleeping in a freezing cold room, as I am usually burning hot.

An old buddy and I split a motel in St. Mary's WV for a Redman qualifier in the Mid 90's. He got down there before me and cranked the air since it was near 100 degrees in August. I went out prefishing and came back soaked in sweat. When I went in the room he was under the covers sleeping and is sware you could see your breath. We slept that night shivering and what blankets we had did not help allot.

I haven't found a motel that the a/c is cold enough,,,i do know when I go to my camper I put that baby on 65 and most guests think I am crazy but I sleep like a baby when I am cool,i do keep lots of blankets there for the "thin blooded" guests,,,it is nice for the female guests in my opinion though

When I was a little boy back in Sunfish, Kentucky my Uncle John had the first car anyone had seen around there with air conditioning. Man he kept that car cold. I was going somewhere with him one day and he stopped to pick up a farmer he knew that was walking down the road.

Uncle John asked him, "Gus, what are planning to do the rest of the day?"

Gus replied, "Well, I was planning to hoe corn, but it has turned so cold I think I'll kill hogs."
