Battry Compartment Storage Tray

I just finished a little project that adds storage to my battery compartment. Originally got the idea from Flyswatter.

After taking careful measurements it's designed so that it can't fall into the battery compartment even while removal. Lid still closes perfectly fine and switch and lock latch works with no modification to either. Drain holes in the corner should water ever get in it. Made from aluminum and powder coated with a pebble finish. This will be a perfect space for my tools. I still need to place a piece of rubber mat on the bottom. Any ideas where to buy that texured rubber mat you see on boat trailers and step pads?

A guy with a sheet metal shop owed me a favor. I gave him a print and he bent it up for me. I did the cut outs and then had it powder coated today.

Ewwwww!!! I want one! That's a wonderful idea. I'm sure mine won't come out like that but I sure could use that. You should post that in the tips forum. I like it! I like it a lot!

Call Basscat parts on the textured rubber. I bought some from them that goes on the passengers side rod ramp and I think that stuff would be just what your looking for.

Or some tool box liner like Craftsman or Kobalt?

Good use of space, seems Stratos or Triton had plastic drop ins in that area. I'd leave one side open since those batteries discharge gas when charging. That box should last forever.
