    basscat on tv

Hi fellow fishermen. this is my first post on this forum. I love to fish and i also love basscat. fished out of a few hoping to get one of my own soon. I was watching fishing shows last night (lot better programming than presidents speech) and noticed that all the different brands of boats have either commercials or actual tv shows. with basscat winning best brand boats for the past few years they should have their on show or at least commercials i believe.

    Re: basscat on tv (caughtsomefish)

Glad you took time to make your first post here. There is a wealth of information at your fingertips.

Bass Cat has a couple of shows that use the brand, though the cost of supporting a major television show is too much to pass that cost on to the consumers for the cost of national advertising. There were a few sponsorships that were dropped after the economic meltdown and they have no intent to return soon. City Limits, Strike King Pro Team Journal and a few more were dropped during the meltdown.

Don't forget that BCB is the only independent major manufacturer to remain in business for decades without being bankrupt or acquired in some fashion. The market conditions and size of the market are very small. Some newer competition comes from previously closed facilities and started from what were other companies molds. One has been in for a few years and seems stable to this point, and another is dependent on a silent investor which that has never been historically good.

One brand is buoyed by the parent corporation of an outboard engine company, which had a roller coaster ownership and turbulent financial history prior to that. Another was acquired when over leveraged, by a major retailer. The other major companies either bankrupted more than once, or were bought as a liquidation. That describes every major and moderate competitor in bass markets.

The BCB history is the not one that offers itself to failure or acquisition. Don't look for major investment in television and other media. If it were up to us on business alone in this market we would drop the investment in the Bassmasters Classic Outdoor Show today. The cost of one Classic show like a Shreveport is extreme and unable to offer a return on the cost. It is simply too much money spent for limited return. Public relations has kept us all there trying compete. The perception is that if you don't show the Classic you are not able to compete in this industry. The increased cost of this is over taxing the return opportunities.

All that being said, Thank You for considering a Bass Cat.

    Rick
