Gear Storage Ideas in a XB03

Just purchased a 99 XB2003 & need to get started on were to put things. I'm looking to see what others may have done. Milk crates up front for the Plano containers seemed like a possibility but I'm betting there are better ideas out there. Any tips on this rig would also be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind side to side weight balance is very important in getting it to ride and run properly.

Allison makes drop in tray's/box's that fit on the lip of the compartments that store your planno's and still have storage space under them. They will fit in the front and both rear compartments.

    Congrats on your new ride!!!!

They sell a tackle tray that fits down in the front deck compartment. On my xb2003 up front is life vests, two paddles, and my main tackle box. Rear port side compartment is one battery, spair prop, and tool box. Starboard rear has an anchor and lunch. Port middle has rope and first aid box. Starboard middle extra clothes, spair fuses, ect. You don't want to put a bunch of heavy stuff under the front deck, put the heavy stuff in the back the boat will handle better, and run faster. It's also very important to keep the weight in the boat balanced, so you may have to play with your setup, depending of how many batteries you have or people. An unbalanced Allison will be very hard to drive on the top end. Sometimes its necessary to carry 30lb "give or take" of extra weight to move around in your boat to balance it properly. Is this your first Allison or performance hull?

Yes, the first time I've had anything this fast. I'd love to get some pic's of the hanging containers you're talking about. Balance is something I'll have to work out. It appears to be set up pretty good with the starting battery rear port. I'll have to play with the weight once I get things figured out & get some lake time. I've been doing a lot of research the last several years on different rigs. Believe it or not this was a compromise so my wife would be protected from wind & we would have room for another couple if they came up for a visit. She thought we were driving 700 miles one way last weekend for a fish & ski type boat till we were 1/2 way down there & she said something about cushions up on the bow to lean against! No dear, it's a Ferrari!

Have a 94 without a front box. Any suggestions? I don't mean to rob a post however this is what I've been thinking about. This is my first Allison however I've owned so other boats that ran pretty good.

That was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, you saved me a lot of time & aggravation. It looks to me like they rest on the top of the gasket. Have you had any issues? I wish Allison had stuff like this shown on their web site, what other handy things like this might they make?

I had those boxes in my 2003. I turned them 90 degrees and placed them on the floor in the compartment. That gave easier access to the rest of the compartment for life jackets and other light items.
