Is the 1984 Allison bassboat a good boat? It used to have a 115 Johnson.
Can I put a 150 merc safely on this boat and how will it perform? Will it be too heavy for the transom?
The boat is without a motor and has been kept in a garage so it is real good shape.
I can get this boat & trailer for under $1000. Should keep looking?
Any info on the 1984 Ally would be appreciated,thanks.

Get on the Allison web site and look up their number. Call them and ask and I am sure you will get an answer. Just a thought. Or, hang on in here long enough and I am sure one of these guys will be able to tell ya.

In 84' the XST was still Balsa cored. If taken care of it should be fine. It will handle a 150 fine.It should run 70+ easy. They're a light boat around 750lbs hull weight . Grew up fishing out of one and it fishes well but rides a little rough. If its clean , the price is great. Check the transom out well. Remember , switching to the merc means new shifter, ignition harness and tachometer so add that to costs.
