    Hydraulic steering cylinder rods

I have a 150 Johnson. It has Sea Star hydrualic steering. I noticed that when the engine is straight--like for trailering---the exposed cylinder rod on one side of the motor is longer than that exposed on the other side. This causes the motor to be able to turn much sharper in one direction than the other. I assume this is not right. Is there an easy fix or do I need to take back to the dealer?

I also noticed that when trailering long distances the motor will turn/lean to one side even if I have the sterring wheel bungied to the boat where it can not turn.
