    New BasSport Pro from C & O

I picked up my new boat from C & O yesterday. I got the blue BasSport Pro with a 250XS on it. I drove the dog out of my truck yesterday trying to get it home so I could get some seat time. Made it in about 2:30 and spent an hour or so driving at different speeds and trim angles. Let me tell you, this is nothing like driving any other boat I have driven!! With just me and a full tank of gas i had the thing walking all over the TN river. I think people were getting some good entertainment watching me try to drive it. As I got more seat time I got better but still a long way to go. I got it up to 82-83mph a couple of times. With two people in the boat 83 was fairly stable. The lake had about 1.5-2ft chop and whitecaps and the boat still ran 80+ as smooth as silk. I have owned several diferent 20ft boats including a Z-20, Stratos, Legend and this boat handles rough water far better than any of them. We hit some swells and I got most of the boat out of the water several times and when it came down on the next swell it felt like it was coming down on a cushion. The layout on the boat is near perfect as well as the build quality. As usual the C & O crowd went over and above my expectations. Maybe Todd will give me a driving lesson one day!

Congratulations on your new rig. I know you will have years of enjoyment with it. Call Bill at Allison to get their "Little Red Book" to help with your driving if C&O did not give you one.

Also go to the Allison Owners Board http://www.allisonowners.com/ and lots of folks will help you with your "decal washing". There has been lots of info on how to rig and drive your Allison. You will need to sign up but it just takes a min.

You said it ran fine with two in the boat so maybe it is out of balance with just you in the boat. Try adding a shot bag to the port side or shift some weight over there to be sure it is level. I am still a newbie myself so that is all I am going to say!! Go get some expert help and try to get an experienced Allison Owner to ride with you to help you.

It takes some getting used to. Mercury Racing didnt do you any favors with that stock sportmaster lower unit either...trust me on that!

    Congrats.

C and O is the best dealer I have found to deal with. Its always a very straightforward and efficient process and service after the sale is probably the best in the business. A lot of people drive a long way to do business there. Its a 160 mile trip one way for me. Well worth it though.

welcome to the Allison family, tyr filling your livewell, run with 2 people first, do not look at the bow of the boat when you are trying to drive, look at the horizon, you only need little inputs from the steering wheel to keep it ballanced. Take your time and do not get in a hurry, and remember your like vest and engine kill switch.

What do you mean by that Rob? I have zero experience w/Merc racing engines but have been considering the 225 sport.

I think Rob is referring to the gear ratios.

    Allison XB21 2+2, Merc 250 ProXS, 1.62 Sportmaster, Hydromotive Engineering X-OB 29

I think Rob is refering to some mods you can do on sportmasters that improve the handling on Allison's (and many other hulls) instead of it's stock form.

Greg, you need to come over to St Cloud and hang out with these Allison boys one weekend...We went to Lake Kissimmee last weekend and had 20 boats down there...10 of them were Allisons! 1 XR2001, 1 XR2002, 1 XB2003, and the rest XB2002's.

THAT WAS MY DAD GUM BOAT. TODDDDDD, DANG IT, FIRST YOU ALLOWED SOMEONE TO DRIVE MY BOAT WITHOUT GETTING MY PERMISSION, AND NOW YOU SOLD IT TO SOMEONE ELSE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I AM STARTING TO GET UPSET HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM STILL SAVING MY QUARTERS FOR THE DARNED BOAT: NOW WHAT AM I GOING TO DO. DARN IT!!!!!! DAD GUM IT!!!!!!!! SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT!!!!!!!!!! NOW IT IS TIME FOR ME TO GET SERIOUS HERE!!!!!!! YOU BETTER HAVE ANOTHER ONE JUST LIKE IT BEFORE I GET TO TEXAS, OR ELSE I AM COMING AFTER YOU!!!!!!!! I SEE YA SHAKING THERE. YOU DON'T THINK I CAN SEE YOU, BUT I CAN SEE YOU. I AM ONE DANGEROUS MAN HERE AND YOU SHOULD NOT PROVOKE ME!!!!!!

Just playing with Todd here a little bit. That blue Allison is perhaps the nicest looking rig I have ever seen. You certainly purchased a wonderful boat. From what I hear, the service at C & O is incredible too. I am moving to Temple, Texas on around February 11, 2008, and you can bet I will be looking closely at that new Allison in Blue, just like yours, by February 15, 2008. Good luck with your new boat, and please keep us posted on the performance as well as your likes and dislikes with the package. I think that 250 is a great motor as well. You could have done no better.

I'm going to hold you to that. Any ProSports in the pack? That's sort of the one I'm eye balling.

    No 21'ers....All are either XR2001, XR2002, XB2002, or XB2003 models. There are more XB2002's than you can shake a stick at, there is a 225 Promax, a 260, a 280, and a drag!

Give Robbie @ Propeller Dynamics a call about lower unit mods. his # is 804-706-1847. The mods. will make the learning curve much shorter.
