    Another Powerplant question...

I know that most everyone that has an Allison runs a merc, but i'm interrested in what you guys think about running a Yamaha 150 TRP on a 2003...

I had one on my old 18 ft Skeeter, and loved it, but just wanted a bigger boat. Do you think that the twin rotating props may cause some adverse handling issues on such a lightweight boat?

Its between 2 used boats, both 2003's; one with a 280SS and one with the Yamaha 150 TRP.

Opinions please, and please be candid...

I don't know about the handling issues. I do think you will be wishing you had more motor after you learn to drive it (assuming you don't know already, forgive me if ya do). I have a 200xs on mine and wouldn't mind 'stepping up' to a little more. JMO.

the TRP was a fine motor on an ally back in its day. is it one of the old VMax TRP's? the main thing is mopowa. there is not an ally owner yet who didn't want mopowa and you gotta get something that is easy to shed and not lose money on when you decide to step up- and I think a TRP would be kinda tuff to shed, but maybe not?

Yor're right, i don't know how to drive an Allison yet. Though i have driven a few high performance rigs (Gambler and Bullet). I honestly am leaning more toward the 280, as you said for the resale value... Only problem, is fishing in tournaments...
