its great to watch a kid catch his first ever bass

i got to do it again today....6th annual Rodeheaver boys ranch 'tournament'.
a group of local anglers took almost 40 kids out on the st johns today, some for their first ever time fishing or even on the water..it was worth the gas money just to see the kids faces after a fast boat ride and if lucky, a fish in the well.

there was a raffle with assorted prizes afterwards, i drew a Diawa rod/reel combo that one of the kids was drooling over, he begged me to trade it to him for the rod he had won, he wanted a baitcaster combo.....so now i have a nice new ALL PRO spinning rod /tennessee handle... looks like im going to have to break down and buy a reel for it

That is AWESOME that you were able to do that for those kids. I would like to try to do that next year . I live up the road a piece (Middleburg) and I am intrested, because it is for a good cause and the Boys Ranch is definately a good cause. Is it always in the last week in March?

im pretty sure it is… i will IM you the ph # of the guy who puts it on…Jerry Shawver……theres a live bait division, in which the kids can weigh in bream , bass, or catfish, and the artificial class which is bass only…no alcohol, tobacco, or foul language is allowed..

it has turned into one of my favorite events of the year
