    Oakley's Customer service

I have a pair of Gascans the wife bought me two years ago. The Polarized lenses have pitted all to heck to the point you can’t really see out of the glasses. Mind this I haven’t worn them all that much. They basically tell tough no matter what it’s a year warranty and I would have to pay full retail on the lenses. I'm I out line thinking this is ridiculous???

    Re: Oakley's Customer service (rngZ520)

I've had two experiences with Oakley customer service.

One experience was very positive and was handled quickly and with very little cost.

The second was quite expensive and left me with a bad taste. I had a pair of Oakley Titanium Whisker glasses with polarized lenses. My wife didn't pay attention when sitting in my truck and sat right on the frames and bent them beyond repair.

Oakley no longer makes the Titanium frames and does not stock them either. Not wanting to simply toss the expensive polarized lenses, I was forced to buy the heavier steel frames at a whopping 25% discount . I had to wait approx 2 months for Oakley to replace my frames and had to pay shipping both ways.

For the cost of Oakley glasses, I was hoping they would take care of customers a bit better when repairs/ replacement parts are needed. I still like my Whiskers, but they're nowhere near as light as the old Titanium frames were.

I would call back. You must have got someone that was having a bad day. I have bought several pairs of Oakleys over the years and have had excellent customer service from them. I had a pair of 5 year old glasses that the bottom shell around the lens cracked and the lens fell out and I lost it. I called them and they gave me a RA to send them back. One week later I get a package in the mail and it's a brand new pair of glasses and they were a similar style but newer model. I was amazed, I never expected a new pair and certainly not a pair for free.

I talked with two different people there. It really surprised me with the way they acted about this. I have two pairs of Costa's and they have awesome customer service I really expected Oakley to as well

I have Oakleys and have great experience working with them. What is really important is a local shop and a good local rep. The shop sells a ton and the rep is always keeping contact with them and gets back within a day. I've just walked in and traded my broke pair for new glasses on the spot. I do have a history with the shop so I do get treated better than a random walk in but thats the benefit from dealing with someone a lot locally.

I think you got a fair deal. They're not responsible for people breaking sunglasses.

Paying $80 for a new pair of frames and waiting 2 months hardly seems like a good deal to me. That's after paying over $200 for the original glasses.

I'm not asking for anything free, but it would have been helpful for a better price break since the Titanium frames have been discontinued.

If your wife ran your car with no oil, would you want a free engine? Would you even get a discounted one? I have owned Oakley's for 15 years. Whenever the product has a product defect, they are QUICK to take care of it for free. When I break something, they help me get it fixed quickly and efficiently. Heck, I had an old pair of Five's and I snapped the ear piece. They replaced the ear piece for cost of shipping. They were five years old. If you pit the lenses, that is from not taking care of them. If I scratch my lenses, I go to the Oakley sight and buy a new pair of lenses and I get them in a couple days. I am not sure how customer abuse of a product is the fault of the company. If I snap the guides in my pole from misuse (or the damn back storage door on my father in law's Puma), I don't call the maker of the rod and ask them to fix it for free. I buy new guides and get it fixed.

Have they changed their policy at Solar Bat?

My experience was not good. i bought a pair and the stem broke. I called and the owner said, "your head is too big for the glasses and that is why the stem broke" I thought that was interesting since he had never seen me.

He said ship them back and when we get them, we will send you another pair. The new pair broke and I sent them back as well. Now I was out $20 shipping and no glasses. He sent me another different model that had styrofoam eye pads built onto the frames. Very uncomfortable. I asked for my money back and he said no.

    Re: Oakley's Customer service (BCapes)

BCapes, It sounds like you did have a set that did not fit your head right, failures are mainly due to improper fit, or somone not taking care of them. I have my set of solarbats for ten years with no problems but they do fit me correctly. I would go ahead and call in again and see if they will do another exchange for an equally priced pair til you find something that works for you. Kind of hard to please everyone but you need to understand that they did try to please you and would still be willing to try if givin the chance. We do not give refunds on broken items, but we do have one heck of a warrantee and out of warrantte replacement program. What price range were the glasses that broke twice?

That's were your wrong. I took complete care of these as I do everything that i own. What I think it total bs that they won't do anything about I have always owned Oakleys but will never own another pair. I have probably only worn these glasses 50 times they are stored in the bag and in my house.

If the glasses are taken care of, they will NOT scratch. There is no way they became pitted from normal use. It just doesn't happen. Sorry.

    Re: Oakley's Customer service (RFeyoMN)

This is why I love Costas no matter how old they are or if you break them yourself. For $13 they will replace them no questions asked. I just sent them a pair with a lense smashed from dropping them on tile not only did the replace the both lenses but the also sent me new frames there was nothing wrong with the frames I had minor a few smalll pieces of rubber missing.

    Re: Oakley's Customer service (krainium)

Costa's are good but they just don't fit my head. Oakley is the only product I have found where I don't have to constantly push the glasses back up my nose. That is why I am such a fan of their product. In 15 years of ownership, I have never once had a customer service issue with them and have been very happy with the product and the company. I wouldn't think of buying a different brand at this point.

I guess they all have their bad days. I sent in a pair of 580's to Costa and they wanted a $100 to replace the lenses. I ain't paying that to replace the lens...I ended up trashing them and going to Oakley.

Too bad too because without a doubt Costa has the best lens on the market but they are heavy, they scratch to easy and replacement cost is way to high for the lens.
