    new truck ?

well I got a new 2011 pickup last oct. paint started to peel on front bumper cover so I took it to a dealer closer to home . well to make a shorter story when we looked at the maint. records I found out that the bumper cover had been replaced, along with the grill and right headlamp!!! not a word about this when I bought it new at the dealer, I know sometimes they repair smaller dents but I feel this had to be a pretty good hit manger said he will contact toyota and see what can be done and that they should have told me. so I would like my down payment back , or a new truck am I asking to much?? pretty pissed right now plus if I have to keep it it will show on car fax and lowermy resale value.. what would u guys do?

I would want a new truck; you paid for a new one, not one that had a fairly large repair.

IMO, here's what probably going to happen. First, they want give your money back, especially after 5 months into the contract. Second, they do not want that truck back, Finally, they'll more than likely will just fix yours and if their nice, they might give you a loaner car untill your's gets fixed. goood luck and let us know what happens.

Sometimes vehicles will be received off a transport truck damaged, They will go and have the vehicle repaired at the cost of the transport company involved.. I have seen this time after time on brand new vehicles and they will NOT say anything when you buy the chosen vehicle if it was damaged on a transport or not.

Print these off and take them to the dealership with you and let them know you are not screwing around anymore.

    Good luck.

Yep, exactly how I ended up with my Avalanche. I had a black LOADED Z-71 Pickup lined up and the dealership ran one side down a yellow pole on the way to get the bed liner installed. They would not take a dime off, said it could be fixed where no one would know it.

I told them I was torn between that truck and the Avalanche I have owned near four years. Someone else has a Chevy that has had half the bed painted. My truck may have been repaired? What I don't know I don't know but it's for sure dishonest on a NEW vehicle. They damn sure make you sign your life away on your end.

    Re: new truck ? (keefus)

I had a friend of mine that bought a new truck...He was having alignment issues and took it to a very good front end shop...They said the truck had been in an accident...Sure enough they checked the VIN and it had been in a fender bender and the dealer patched it up and put it back on the lot as new...
The dealer had some 14 foot jon boats on the lot that they were giving away as a promo....My buddy told the dealer he could either give him one of those jon boats or he was going to call his lawyer....He got a new Jon boat and trailer...
I don't know if I would have settled for that but he was happy so that is all that really mattered...

You paid for a new truck, and got one that was already smashed up when you bought it. That dealer needs to get you into a new (undamaged) truck, or give your money back.

Personally, I'd want my money back because that dealer was dishonest and tried to sneak on by on you.

Same thing happened to me in 2001. Bought a new GMC. It had the front pass side fender painted. My cousin found it because it had tape lines and the paint didn't match. Not a dang thing I could do about it because they don't have to disclose this.

I think that body repair happens way more than we'll ever know. I'm betting many new trucks have a good bit of body filler before they roll off the line.

    ^^^^^^^^this^^^^^^

so...since the paint is peeling did they simply repaint the old bumper and not replace it?

    Re: new truck ? (lambdamoose)

I sold cars for 10+ years and have seen several of these type of incidents. I remember a brand new 280ZX that came in on the transport truck under another car that was leaking brake fluid. It needed a total repaint...that ended up looking like a repaint if you knew what to look for. I've seen lots of damage from the transport truck or dings on the lot. I once saw a bullet hole in the rear quarter panel on a new Mustang that we had just received.

One of the most outrageous "sold as new" vehicles I ever saw was a Ford F-150 that one of the salesmen drove (this was back in the day when salespeople got free demos) out in the field to do something with his cows. The truck go stuck in the mud and he had to walk out. That night a cold front rolled in and the ground froze and it didn't warm up for a couple of weeks. That truck sat there stuck up to the axles in frozen mud for 3 or 4 weeks. He finally got it out...got it detailed and sold it. I never heard if it had any trouble or not but I sure wouldn't want that truck.

I wouldn't expect much from the dealer on this. First of all there are two words that are NEVER used in the same sentence in the car business.....those two words are; refund and money. I would be amazed if they back the deal off...you've had it for 5 months...it's all yours. Unless you want to get ugly with lawyers and the local "In Your Corner" news reporter, I would bet that the best you will get is a promise of a great paint job and a couple of free tanks of gas.
    Don't worry Ma'am....
