Pflugerville, Tx - Somewhere between a Rock and a Weird Place
Reading another article, it seems FEMA had denied funding to several southern Ill. counties.

Did they not meet the minimum loss amount or what's the reason why?
Was there a failure by the governor to issue a state of emergency or some sort of declaration?
According to a statement from FEMA "the damage was not of such severity and magnitude to be beyond the capabilities of the state, affected local governments and volunteer agencies". How is the local government of a totally devastated community going to help fund recovery?

UNREAL, they need to be shut down like the EPA. If they cannot help, what use are they?![]()

I've seen instances where this has happened in regards to flooding - if there wasn't enough damage for the governor to make a declaration, then FEMA is not going to come through with funding.
The whole process starts with the governor, if he didn't take the right measures, then you shouldn't be pointing the finger at FEMA....![]()
each state should have an emergency management agency. I see the point of the OP, but I also see the point of FEMA.

Just to put it all in perspective for ya.....
The south side of town was totally destroyed.
The only hospital in a town of 6000 recieved heavy damage.
7 people died.
Harrisburg was not the only town affected in Saline Co.
The state is broke.
Local EMA is based on volunteers and little state and almost no federal funding.
And no, our Governor is not in jail....yet. The last 2 are!
the government blows, that's the bottome line![]()

They did the same thing up here in KY and Ohio from the recent tornados. The destruction was massive. Never heard a thinhg from Obama, he denied all the \FEMA funding.
I gaurantee you if it happened in a poor, welfare, Democratic voters area It would have been a national disaster and he would have flown over it. He would have rolled up his sleeves and pretended to help, kissed babies and beat the pavment for votes.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit, that some politician will come along and save the day, just to boost their image, when it shouldn't have been denied in the first place.
Amen, jetdog. I think you hit the nail on the head.![]()
