    Re: MPG (basser201)

So you come here and complain about poor fuel milage and do not give any specifics, measuring methods, props, etc.

Have you had a trained tech and an experienced boat rigger check over your setup first? What did they say?

Have you compared your rig with the performance reports on the E-TEC infonet and the Evinrude websites?

    What do you want??????

    Why am i getting only 1.8 mpg with a 06 e-tec 225h0 running average 65-70 at 5200-5600 rmp
Did not know i was complaining.

    I absolutly love this motor!

    I have a 96 201 pro xldc with 06 e-tec 225ho 8"hydrolic jp 28" raker2 prop.
I am running the same #'s as the last Performance Data (5600 rpm /73.3mph) but i don't get the range #'s
The only differance is they went 164 miles on 54 gal =3.03mpg
I am going 45 miles on 25 gal =1.8 mpg
also thay ran a 26" prop.
    I have as 28" prop.

I want to know why the big defferance between mine #'s and e-tec #'s as far as mpg go's.

This is from the evinrude e tec web site.

    Performance Data

    RPM MPH GPH MPG RANGE
    1000 5.3 0.09 6.1 294
    1500 6.9 2.10 3.4 163
    2000 8.1 5.30 1.5 73
    2500 24.7 6.30 3.9 191
    3000 33.1 8.00 4.1 201

Let's see if your figures make sense.

You say you are getting 73.3 mph at 5600, yet are only getting 1.8 miles per gallon. If that was the case, you would have to be consuming about 40 gallons per hour thru your motor.

    Nope, that doesn't make sense.

How are you figuring gas consumption at each rpm interval?

Don't think Basser was bashing the E-tec. Just trying to figure out why his milage is not what others are getting...

    Re: MPG (basser201)

What I would do is fill the boat up again and run it. Try and keep track of your rpm running. Then fill it back up at the end of your trip then post your numbers. Just looking at your tank and saying you only have about a 1" of fuel left does not give us numbers. 1" of fuel on some tanks can be 5 gallons.

    Re: MPG (johnrude)

looking at the measurements i dont think it would be any less than 23 gal to fill the tank so 45/23=1.9 mpg. The measurements are rough measurements
Even at 20gal it's only 2.25mpg evinrude is getting 3.4mpg

Brian, if you are making short hops with alot of holeshots, this could be costing some fuel? Does your boat get on plane easily?? Just a thought...

With fuel numbers we can not go by "i dont think it would be any less" We need to know the correct numbers to help you out.

    Re: MPG (johnrude)

I own a 2005 225 HO DI and have been thinking about upgrading to a E-tec if BRP offers the 7 warranty again, but the way the "BRP experts" on this board seam to jump on anyones case that comes on here with a question that even resembles a complaint has made me really nervous about buying one. For some reason they all seam to have become real defensive about the E-tec.

    Re: MPG (ROBBY MEYERS)

I get excellent mpg with my 2005 ETEC225HO and I have not had any problems either. I run the pi$$ out of it and have not had any problems. My experience has been great and the motor has performed beyond my expectations.

    Re: MPG (200xp)

I don't think the "experts" are jumping on anyone here that has a complaint about an E-Tec. But, most of the posts start out the same way. Some bad mouthing about a new E-Tec, but no real facts, no motor information, just some gripe that is suppose to be resolved with a magic wand. It seems most of the complaints about the E-Tec turn out not to be true, but rather some other issue, like set-up, rigging etc.

There have been plenty of trolls on this board, just trying to stir up crap (I'm not implying this topic is). I just gets suspicious when someone that doesn't post much (or at all here), starts out with a negative post (again, not implying this topic is).
