Have 96 200 Venom and changed the gearcase oil 1 year ago with new OMC lube and noticed silver powder stuck to the magnet.......run the boat less than 55 hrs since and on the most recent lube change today noticed another buildup of silver powder on the magnet. Is a lower unit failure coming or is the acceptable?
Any opinions appreciated
As long as it is just a fine powder, it is normal. If you have chunks, then lower unit service is in order.

Mine( '94 200 Venom) look like a silver haired Marg Simpson. Hoping to get thru the season. Might be a good idea to have yours pressure tested. How oftendo you change the lube ?
