Little trick for cranks I just discovered....

Not sure if this has been posted before by anyone. I have been going through my tackle this winter. Reorganizing, re-hooking, and re-stocking. Some of my crankbaits have suffered. A rusty hook laying along side the body, stains, scratches from rubbing and bouncing in the box, oxidation, etc...

Was looking at ways to clean these up. Tried some household products with no real success. Grabbed my tube of Maguires Scratch X. Applied a little dab to the towel and began to work it in. A few minutes on each side and a quick buff and they look brand new. Found this to be a quick problem solver.

Hope it helps a few of you guys that might be interested in cleaning up some of your favorite baits.

ScratchX is great stuff! I use it regularly to restore finishes on guitars, and also discovered that it will shine those old crankbaits right up.

Try it on your fishig rods, too! It will remove all of the fine scratches and make 'em shine like nwew.

With how fast a crankbait is moving, I wouldnt think so.

Never tried that but I will use a Magic Eraser to wipe away rust. Those Magic Erasers are...magic!

I would think the petroleum smell would turn them away before the scratches and stains would. Just guessing.

Not sure if there is enough scent from the Maguires to make this an issue. If it does, then I will spray them down with some F2. I wouldn't think that this will be an issue as cranks invoke more of a reaction strike. Time will tell.
